    • Thanks so much Neel, for your WISE words! You add so much with your words on paper. Imagine how great you will be speaking to a member on the phone about an issue. I know you’ve given me incredible advice and am thankful for that. Your a wonderful partner and I am so glad we have teamed up together to do such a challenging and heartfelt way to help others.

You raise a great point. Which approach is best? The professional psychiatrist who can write prescriptions, or the counselor who is licensed, or someone they know or a as a member of a wisdom writing community. However, this is what I am thinking for myself. Because we all are different and unique, different approaches for different individuals. We have created a great starting point, I believe by offering to simply listen proactively, offer advice when asked, and have enough common sense to direct yourself to a Licensed Professional. Thanks so much for raising this topic.. We need to spread the word to our members that we offer this!! We are doing a disservice to our members, if we don’t.

But I decided to take proactive steps to exercise and lose weight, so now I am off insulin shots and most of my prescription medicines, and I feel great and am ready to live life to the fullest again.

    • Neel,
I really enjoyed your post on faith. You opened my eyes to see it in another perspective. I attended AA for about two years, and not all of the members believed in God. In order to start the program, you have to do the first step: I am powerless over alcohol and my life has become unmanageable. Step 2: Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. “A power greater than ourselves”, as I said, not everyone believed that was God. They knew however, they had to have FAITH that there was something greater than themselves that could restore them to Sanity, even if it was their washer or dryer. For me, Faith is difficult. I have faith in God. I know there is something bigger and larger and an entity that holds the pieces of how we were created. I have felt God also, at times in my life.. when my little sister lost her first child who was turning 3, six days before her death, my sister came to my house with the news. That night, I fell asleep crying, and it was like watching a television: I saw “Hillary” walk into someone’s arms that looked very much like Jesus. It completely freaked me out. The next day, I shared what had happened with my little sister and her husband, and it brought them so much comfort. Even to this day, occasionally, my sister will ask me, “Sammy, did you really see Hillary walk into the arms of Jesus?? I said yes, because it is the truth. Faith, can be built on. We can grow our faith like we water a plant. We may start off believing that the washer and dryer are the higher power. We may end up seeing a child that has passed away from this realm of life to another, walk into the arms of Jesus at a much later time. Hope this comment is helpful. Samantha
